The Fire Caves

The Stones Run Red

This is the first of the two quests in the Fire Caves series. This isn't too hard of a quest, but it would be a very good idea to have fire protection as you can easily fall in the lava. Fire mephits are the favorite monster in this zone. The idea is to destroy the three Dragon Altars and kill the high shaman.

You being the quest at the Entrance (marker #1). Make your way carefully to the Altar 1 (marker #2). Destroy it and activate the two switches to open the door to continue south.

Make your way (carefully not to fall into lava) to the Altar 2 (marker #3), destroy that, and continue south to Altar 3 (marker #4) and destroy that also. Head back north to the + intersection and go east to get to the High Shaman (marker #5).

Carefully get to the High Shaman and kill him. If you fall, you fall into a lot of lava.

Finish out and head back to Idas to advance your quest.

Brood of Flame

This is the second and final quest in the Fire Caves series. You are again in the same zone as before, and should bring fire protection with you in case of people falling into lava. This time you must kill three fire elementals and optionally kill 20 fire mephits.

You begin at the Entrance (marker #1). Head down the same path as before to the Fire Elemental 1 (marker #2). Remember that fire elementals shoot fireballs, so even if you don't have fire protection, at least use fire resist or the entire group will quickly die.

Activate the two switches and head on down to Fire Elemental 2 (marker #3). Remember to be careful getting down to this area. After he is dead, make your way far south to Fire Elemental 3 (marker #4) and slay him as well.

Remember that there will be many fire mephits along the way.

Finish out and head back to Idas to get your reward (between masterwork and +1).
